Every now-and-again I’ll stumble across something on the internet that makes me smile. Here are a few of those things:

Bill Sullivan
Bill Sullivan is a New York based artist who works with BIG digital photograps and unknowing subjects. Love it.

Pixar Offices
Via positivesharing.com: A list of 10 Seeeeeeeriously Cool Workspaces. I think I’ve mentioned before that Pixar’s managers work in offices that look like little village huts lined up side by side. It’s brilliant. Here are some larger images if you’re interested in spicing up your cubicle farm.

Creative Review Magazine
The February Issue of Creative Review Magazine was sold to the Mother Advertising Agency. In a “curious example of the difference between the worlds of advertising and publishing, the whole magazine was created in Illustrator, as Mother doesn’t use Quark.”

World Leader by Facial Hair
The facial hair status of the rulers of the countries of the world.

Tankbooks
Tankbooks pays homage to the über-successful model of cigarette packaging to replace a nasty habit with an good one. Replace those cancer-sticks with great literature!

George Hotel in Disappearing Scotland
Via I like: It’s a shame when culture disappears. The George Hotel in Scotland was razed for the Virgin Megastore. CDs can’t pay to replace the character of this place. There are more things disappearing in Scotland. See them here.

Draft.

Via NPR: The “War Czar”, Lt. Gen. Douglas Lute (assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Adviser for Iraq and Afghanistan) is “concerned about the toll the war in Iraq and extended deployments are taking on US forces” and believes that “from a military standpoint, a return to a draft should be part of the discussion”.

Two points, Mr. Lute: (one) Of COURSE the never-ending war and unnecessarily long deployment in no-mans land is taking a toll on the troops that are trapped there doing nothing more than shuffling through insurgency after insurgency. (two) Would we need to discuss the draft if, early on, the desired outcome of the war was “discussed” (the habit of which is only now apparently gaining wide-spread approval in the War Department)? I think probably not.

Moving.
