Lindsey pointed me back to this nugget from last June-ish: How to Live Happily with a Great Designer.
On October 20 between 8-9 pm, San Franciscans will turn out all non-essential lights for 1 hour and install 1 compact fluorescent light bulb. Lights Out SF estimates that “turning lights out in San Francisco for even one hour could save as much as 15 percent of the energy consumed on an average Saturday night”.
