The day had to come. My noble experiment in non-TV living, much like Communism and Crystal Pepsi, was doomed to fail. I’ve been making do for about a year with a 18″ flat-screen TV in my bedroom and none in the living room. Which means I haven’t used my living room in months.

What I didn’t account for was that when people come to visit, they often expect to watch the ‘tube. It’s a sad fact that conversation is mostly dead (or at least on its last leg) and it’s great to be able to watch a movie with your friends without having to reenact it via charades or piling everyone into the bed.

So here’s what I’ve done:

Bravia Box

It’s a grown-up, full sized 26″ Sony Bravia High-def LCD TV with HDMI inputs (and some other fancy stuff that I don’t remember. My research tells me that Sony Bravia’s are some of the best on the market, and I hope that my non-trained eye can verify this fact.

I had it shipped to my office, and nearly had to fight a death-match with John - who signed for it - he was trying to steal it! But I threw him over the 3rd floor balcony. I win! Let’s hope it fits in the built-in bookcase in the new condo!
